FRENCH WEEK AT ALDINGTON

Viv Webb, Aldington said....

We had a French week at aldington primary. We grouped pupils vertically and each teacher had a subject and pupils moved to different classes each day. We made crepes, built models of Eiffel tower painted out doors in the style of Monet and made huge cave paintings of the caves of Lascaux. We also did music and geography and played boule. We all had a great time. I also got a native french speaker to come and read stories in assembly.

All primary schools to teach foreign languages by 2010

Every child in England will start learning a modern foreign language in primary school from the age of seven, the government announced today.

The recommendation to put modern foreign languages on the primary school timetable was made by Lord Dearing in his final report which followed his comprehensive review of school languages policy.
